Matt Deakin
Junior Estimator/Draftsman
Matt studied Mechatronics at Massey University in Palmerston North, starting at Brunton Engineering as part of his study placement in December 2020. He started out as a welder-fabricator part time to gain workshop experience.
In November 2022, the Hans CNC Fibre Laser arrived, where Matt was critical in its smooth implementation into Brunton Engineering and became the primary operator full time.
July 2023 Matt started his apprenticeship and began working as an estimator/draftsman. He has been using his CAD experience to aid with design and drafting over Brunton Engineering’s entire project portfolio while also learning the skills required to become a fully-fledged junior project manager from our own experienced team. Matt has a good eye for detail and keen to learn, his enthusiasm always showing in his efforts to help our customers achieve the best design solution for whatever task is at hand.
Matt’s interests include working on automotive design and development, and computer hardware.
